Blue Lobster Vodka
“Prized as a rare Blue Lobster just easier to find,” is the tag line of this award winning vodka from Pictou County, Nova Scotia. In 2016 this little home town vodka beat out 1500 competitors from 60 countries to bring home a gold medal from the San Francisco Spirit Competition.
This small batch vodka is a 100% grain based spirit. It is slightly sweet, very clean and has an incredibly neutral flavor profile.
Vodka may be primarily thought of as a base for cocktails but it has great potential as a food pairing beverage choice. Smoked salmon, pickled and cured dishes are some favored pairings. The clean, fresh quality of vodka brings out the subtle nuances in mellow and creamy cheese.
For more extravagant indulgence toss a bottle of Blue Lobster Vodka in the freezer and shuck up a plate of fresh PEI Oysters. To the plate, add some lemons, grated horseradish and cocktail sauce. All that’s left to do is pour a shot of vodka and enjoy the clean and refreshing flavors of both the vodka and the oysters.
For a quick and easy Halloween drink try experimenting with a few pitcher drinks. These can be made the night before and when the guests arrive your focus will be on mingling not mixing!
