Honey & Whiskey Chicken Wings
Serves 2-4
Ingredients
- 2 pounds chicken wings
- 1 Tbsp butter
- 1 small onion, minced
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup Jack Daniels
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 cup honey
- 2 Tbsp tomato paste
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350F.
- Melt butter in a medium saucepan on medium heat. Add onion and cook for 2 to 3 minutes. Add the whisky, the maple syrup, tomato paste, salt and pepper. Whisk to combine and bring to a low simmer.
- Place chicken wings in a bowl and pour half of the sauce over the wings. Toss the wings with the sauce to coat. Arrange the wings evenly on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Roast the wings for 20 minutes, then turn the wings over and roast them an additional 12- 15 minutes, or until nicely browned. Lower the heat or remove from oven if the wings start getting too dark.
- While the wings are roasting, simmer the remaining sauce until it thickens slightly and can coat the back of a spoon, then remove from heat.
- When wings are browned and cooked through, transfer them to a bowl and toss with the remaining sauce.
