Debbie’s Game Day Picks

Norton Malbec Reserva

Argentina has made Malbec its flagship red and Norton Reserva is a great example of a well made wine from this South American country. It is a wine of elegance and complexity. Great purity of fruit with big blackberry, blueberry and plum. The palate is smooth and round, with velvety tannins, spice and tobacco on the long finish.

The Norton Malbec is an excellent red meat wine. If grilled steak, beef fajitas or BBQ dishes are on your Game Day menu look to Malbec for a wine that scores well with any crowd.

No Super Bowl event would be complete without a pot of world class chili. Malbec has just amount of dark fruit, spice and tannin levels to stand up to the heat of a spicy chili. You can feel comfortable passing the ball to Norton Reserva to have enough power and finesse to tackle the spice of your dish.

Jose Cuervo Especial Gold Tequila

Jose Cuervo is one of the most recognized producers of tequila in the world. This spirit was introduced in Mexico almost 200 years ago. The Especial Gold has aromas of freshly ground peppercorn, spice, orange and charred oak. It is dry and smooth with flavors of black pepper, sweet caramel and notes of toffee and vanilla on the finish.

Ceviche with lime and chilies to marinated meats cooked over mesquite or citrus flavored desserts are dishes that go very well with this complex tequila. Try a traditional tequila pairing with the Pulled Pork Enchiladas recipe.

Upstreet White Noize White IPA

This Belgium style white IPA is light to medium-bodied with moderate carbonization. Tropical fruit notes with hints of banana are highlighted by a tangy citrus background. The expected bitterness is toned down by the natural breadiness of the wheat bill.

The “bitter meets sweet” style is a solid choice with dishes featuring a bit of spice. Two staples at most game nights are chicken wings and nachos, both would be amazing pairings with this Island ale.

IPA’s featuring tropical fruit and citrus notes are also ideal partners to gin based cocktails.
